I wear them at least twice a week to work, so money well spent!
And that's my motive behind stalking shoes: to get a quality piece I know will be worn often, for the smallest amount of money possible. I am currently stalking these boots from Target:
They are real leather and are $49.99 at full price. I have another pair of leather engineer boots from Target and LOVE them! While the price is not high to begin with, I am counting on some good Christmas sales to bring it down a bit, so hopefully my persistence will pay off. Here are my rules for successfully stalking fashion:
- You are allowed to stalk anything over $20; if you hesitate to buy anything under $20 based on price alone DON'T BUY IT. Chances are it will sit in the closet gathering dust.
- Make sure the piece you are stalking transcends seasons and trends. You may be stalking for a while before the price comes down so don't pick those expensive white harem pants you've been eying.
- You have to be okay if the item gets sold out. Many expensive items that sell out will end up on Ebay, which can be great for your pocketbook, so be sure you know the style name, etc so it can be located later. Which leads me to the next rule:
- Create a shopping folder in Favorites on your browser (you self-respecting shoppers should already have one!) and make sub folders for all your needs. I have wish lists based on the upcoming season so I'll know what to look for when I go shopping (This is another entry entirely); and I have folders for things I regularly stalk. It's an easy way to stay organized...just remember to check your prey often!
- And finally: There is nothing wrong with expensive taste, but patience is a virtue!
